I somehow cannot get the least bit excited about this product, no matter how great it sounds. I am stll buying multichannel SACD's because I think they are far and away the best delivery system for music in the home. But, SACD's days are numbered. I expect that soon we will be listening to multichannel on music-only Blu-Ray disks via the lossless 7.1 channel codecs. When? Who knows. But, it seems inevitable to me. Only a couple of releases are out there now, but the Blu-Ray era just officially began a few months ago with the collapse of HD-DVD.

I am sticking with my Oppo 980H and Integra DTC 9.8, which are far beyond any 2-channel music delivery system I have heard (yes, even the most expensive vinyl playback). I will be adding a decent Blu-Ray 2.0 machine when it appears. Blu-Ray players are unlikely to support SACD. Also, HDMI 1.3a will be my main interconnect, because I want the signal path in the digital domain. I do not see how extra a-d,d-a conversions and a swarm of expensive analog interconnects and connectors can possibly benefit the sound. I do not think they can be totally neutral and transparent. Maybe, at best, they can add some euphonic coloration, but that's not what I want.

Based on my experience with the Integra, Audyssey "room coorection" is now an essential part of any future system of mine. It's remarkable! I will soon be upgrading the Integra's built-in Audyssey Multeq XT to Audyssey Pro. But,I do not want extra a-d,d-a to get the Audyssey capability.

Based on this product, I have to question the judgement of this company. How many $15,000 SACD players would they expect to sell, even ignoring the imminent obsolescence of the medium? With business decisions like this, I do not see them surviving for very long. EMM would not be a survivor if their only source of revenue were expensive SACD/CD machines.

Incidentally, I am an 80% classical music, 5% other music and 15% TV/video listener/watcher. My system cost was > $50k, based on 7 Martin-Logan stat hybrids, a JL sub, Krell, Bryston and Parasound amplification.
