Some people can afford $100,000, $200,000 cars- and higher. Some people can afford houses that cost 5 million dollars.

Actually many people can afford them.

A $15,000 disk player is something many middle class people can actually buy, if they set their priorities in that direction. Rather than buying a new Acura, I could choose to buy a used Toyota and spend the difference on such a disk player.

One of the audio mags just reviewed a $150,000 turntable. The 15K disk player is actually cheaper than the EMM Labs player/DAC combination. So your shock is a little late and seems rather silly.
