Sony SCD-XB940 - Replace or Mod??

I've had a Sony SCD-XB940 since 2001 in stock form with my budget kef/rotel system while at uni.

I've recently upgraded the rest of my system substantially, and I'm now looking to upgrade my SACD/CD playback - but I'm not sure if it'd be best to mod this player or buy a new one. The player still works flawlessly. I've seen the vacuum state mods highly regarded on this forum, but would I be better off spending the money on a new player given it's age? My budget is somewhere around $1500-2000 (could maybe stretch to $2500 if it would make a big difference).

I'm located In Oz - does anyone know if XB940 mods are even still available here?
