Thank you for your response. The warrranty card with my NAD M5 unit states it as a 2 year warranty (parts an labor). I have found the unit to have its issues, but as I have said before, as long as it's predictable I will keep on playing.
I have been enjoying the M5 mostly as a PCM transport (using AES/EBU balanced digital to my DAC), as I don't have many SACDs (Although I am waiting for those Dead Can Dance issues). SACD sound is great, but I believe I have still to let the SACD component section "burn in" a little more to get used to the sound. The exterior design IMHO could have included metal operational buttons, but I'll deal with the plastic for now until I find something which one-upps it.
If my SACD collection grows substantially (I doubt it, as most of my listening is PCM based Red-Book) I will look into upgrading to the entry-level Esoteric, it's supposed to have great sound, but not good looks, but alas double the price of the M5 :) I believe if you play your cards right and get a newer built model with tweaks and polish you'll no doubt have a good time with it. I am having a great time with the M5 myself. As long as it keeps playing music, I am happy with it. That's what really matters, a playback ritual here or there doesn't bother me as much now that I have come to fully appreciate its sound.
