The SA-1 that I auditioned was very musical and surpassed a stock SCD-1 in treble refinement, smooth liquid midrange, and overall balance. The major advantage of the modded SCD-1 was in the areas of scale & dynamics & authority. I've continued developing the unit & would be pleased if anybody with an SA7S1 in the NY/Philadelphia corridor would care to compare. In the back of my mind I've been thinking if I ever undertake another CDP mod project it might be an SA7S1.
