In all of Vacuum State's very wide experience with this, and all the other original SONY SACD players, we have NEVER had a major board failure, never!

Lasers, yes, transports yes, but not the electronics.

I would see if there is a SONY repair station somewhere that will accept the modded player and repair it at their often available fixed price.
