Talking about Birdland I had to mention the new Andy Bey cd.
It was recorded 10 years ago and only released now but Wow!!
what a cd, by far Andy's best and having the "Mad man" Kenny Washington on drums and his brother "The professor" on bass is just amazing.
Andy has a sound, he is not a Frankie wannabe like so many other so called male jazz singers, nor does he sing "Que sera sera"
This is pure jazz, this cd with Norma Winstone "Amoroso...only more so"
are definetely my favorites jazz buys for 2007
The recording is also world class in the "Being there" category.
