Re: Eighty Eights' Jazz SACDS

I have the albums from 88's noted below.

While they are all well recorded, I would say the soundstaging and presence, esp of the trios is good, but not excellent. The Clark Terry album is excellent in this reguard however. But when you factor in the price, I would concentrate on other labels first unless there is a specific artist that you really want or the price comes down.

I have a number of regular cds that sound as good as some of these, esp recordings from Mapleshade, Capri, Telarc, Chesky, Mosaic and a few small specialist labels. The Fantasy SACDs (jazz) in general are not that much improvement over quality 20 bit remasters, thought there are a few exceptions.
