Hi,Yes, that intrigues me also.
Are this two motors really the same, and if they are in fact Mabuchi RF-500TB-12560 motors.
If that is the case, then there is really no problem in case of failure.
Since my machine is working fine for now, I’m not that happy to put it apart, hope some experience member of this board can confirm ( or not..) this..I use Sony CD players all the time, 505, 707, 779, sacd 333, 555 and now 777.
Never had any problems with them, 777 look by far the most accomplished of them.
It would be pity that this machine would be so problematic in case of failure.Regards, Davorin
P.S. Regarding laser, Sony-DVP-S715 DVD player uses the same laser.
Since they don’t play DIVX, MP3 and so on, they can be find for few € on eBay, almost new..
