iLink was developed by Sony and licensed to a few other big Japanese manufacturers. The license fee is $15,000 annually, so there aren't any high-end companies making iLink DACs.Plus iLink is kind of a stupid interface. It is ridiculously complex, due to the verification required at each end to make sure that you aren't going to do something "unauthorized" with the digital signal. The clock is at the downstream end (which is good), but instead of just sending the clock back upstream to the transport (which would be trivially simple), they instead send a signal telling how full the downstream buffer (FIFO) is so that the transport can adjust its speed to match.
The only equipment that I have ever seen with an iLink input are big expensive surround-sound receivers from Pioneer, Sony, and Denon. I doubt any of them would sound any better than the DACs built into your DVD player.
