Yes, this is an outstanding performance and recording. I find the sound beguiling, which is something I almost never say about digital recordings in any format. Only a slightly over-etched quality in the sound (most notable in the solo violin), a lack of roundness in the instruments (evident as a slight thiness), and a less than complete sense of three dimensionality. I listen in two channels, so surround may compensate here. But I find that surround tends to obscure tonal deficiencies. The violin/piano pieces, more closely recorded with less acoustic to cushion the sound, are more revealing. Nevertheless, the Pentatone engineers have done a wonderful job. I noticed that they used Meitner AD convertors.
