The 1622 transport which plays SACD and CD has been on the MBL web site for over a year but is not yet available for sale. At HE2007 they demoed a working prototype of the 1622. I was able to briefly listen to a multilayer SACD on the 1622 versus the 1621A (CD only) transport and did not notice a hig difference, but critical listening at a show has its limitations. The 1611F DAC has an "SACD interface." I am told that the 1611E (CD only) DAC is field upgradeable to a 1611F which improves RBCD performance as well. One can only guess what this means from a design standpoint. I have always found MBL to be very cryptic on the technology of their electronics. Fortunately the terrific performance of their equipment makes the technology used irrelevant to me. I suggest that you contact Peter Alexander the US distributor for MBL for more info.
