You need to format the DVRA1000's DVD+RW disk specifically for DSD recording.

Place a new, unformatted DVD+RW in the DVRA-1000

When it asks if you want to format the disk, choose 'Yes'

Then you are presented with the three line display

Format Type
Project name
Sample Rate/Format

Choose 'Full';'Whatever name you like' and 'DSD', respectively

Hit 'Enter' and you're on your way.
