Well, I am not so sure about that. As I think you are aware, I come off the VC24 chip in my Sony DVP-S9000es and go directly to output with only a set of MU metal transformers wound by Dave Slagle. I have NO resistors nor capacitors in the signal path (which I think are more evil). The transformers deal with DC offset, give me a 1:2 step up (allowing me to use a passive volume control) and coupled with a few very small capacitors, allow me to filter out high frequency digital noise. This is a simple way and relatively low cost way to get outstanding output from a SACD player. Since there are no active devices needed with this setup, no distortion or noise is added by the power supply of the active devices. I will not deny that there are issues with pairing this player with the downstream components because of the reactivity of the transformer with the downstream impedance, but once those are figured out, the sound is simply stunning. My player was compared to a Reimyo CD player and came out about even. I just need to add your separate tent clock for an additional step up in sound : )Retsel
