i think Freddie is a little raw. IMO he doesnt have much range, and while he vociferously rejects that he's riding on his brothers coat-tails, he is. Heavy Weather OTOH is a classic. Not everyone appreciates it, but it is an honest example of late 70's fusion compositional style, and contains for my money some of Jaco's best work. I posted this many, many months ago, but Jaco started out as a drummer. A freak accident in high-school football practice left him with two broken wrists and unable to play. The rest is history. However, the Jaco composition Teen Town shows off his talent on both bass and drums. you may not play it a lot, but you wil play it. I still do after many years and 5 coppies. I now have the original vinyl, 2 Columbia half-speed remasters, the Sony gold masterworks CD, and SACD. silly.just buy it. I need more in my club. ;)
