Looks like it is not just the Krells and SACD 1000's. My friend has a 1 year old MF SACD player and its philips drive has started malfunctioning - unable to read discs; stopping in the middle of playback etc.chilling. These philips drives seem to self destruct after a time delay, like the assignment tapes from Mission Impossible.
My new CDSD uses the "new version" of the Philips drive. I am hoping it is more reliable.
