yes you are right that the copper tabs go in the faceplate. At the bottom of the faceplate, near the two plastic tabs that insert into the base of the unit you will see two small rectangular openings. Insert one end of the copper tab such that the other end is turned up.Also, when you installed the new chips, did you completely desolder and remove the old ones? I am pretty handy with a soldering iron, but I don't have the fancy station you are talking about. Is it reasonable for me to think I can do this with a regular iron that has a very sharp and clean tip?
