Received my repaired and modified SACD 1000 back from Alex at APL last night.I didn't have the time to do a lot of listening, but did play a track or two from a variety of SACDs, redbook CDs, and several CDRs.
I'm very pleased with the results so far. First, the unit is working again -- yay! -- secondly, the quality of playback, regardless of disk, is dramatically improved over my memories of the stock player.
Very involving and immediate sound, wonderfully musical timbre and texture, great depth, dimension, and air. None of the flattening of perspective or artifical "stereopticon" 3D-ness I usually associate with digital music reproduction.
I haven't had an opportunity to use the digital receiver input board yet, and havent' really checked out the polarity reversal feature controlled from the new remote, but perhaps tonight.
All in all, I'm quite happy with the results.
