Thanks for your impressions, Dave. I had the RBCD and found it hard to get past the lumbering tempos and dry acoustic. Does the SACD provide much of an improvement over the RBCD with respect to sound quality? I may give it another shot if it does.BTW, did you attend the MTT/SFS performance of the Shostakovich 11th at the Proms a few years ago? A friend of mine sent me a tape he made of the broadcast, and I found it pretty much ideal in terms of tempo and phrasing, and it was utterly devastating in its impact. The sound of his tape was pretty impressive, too.
