DUI, in no way do I mean to dampen your enthusiasm, nor have I got any reason to doubt what you hear in your system. But... in my experience stock players don't sound that great. No, I haven't heard all, but I have heard a few. They could be value for money, but are they really 'high-end'? I doubt it.You say the Philips sounds great. As we all know these types of statements are all relative. And please, I am not picking on you, so take this in the positive light it is intended. How does your player compare to others you have heard? Ever since my exposure to modified players I consistently feel that a 'stock' model leaves much to be desired. For the record, I have heard the following players in stock and modified form: Sony SCD-1, Philips SACD1000, Pioneer 563, Sony 777ES, Sony XB940, Denon 2900, 3910, Toshiba 3950 and maybe a couple of others I cannot remember.
Cheers,
JW
