Rich - anytime electronics are modified, no matter what the skill or reputation of the modifier, there is always risk. To believe otherwise is foolish. If someone wants to modify their gear or have it modified, that's fine, as long as that person understands the potential pitfalls. There is risk involved - risk of damage, risk that the mods won't do what is expected, risk that the mods lower future resale value.
To you, the potential benefits may outweigh the risks. Great for you. I believe the risks outweigh the potential benefits. If I'm not getting enough out of the gear I own, I sell it and buy better. Less risk for me.
Now do you understand?
