I have the SCD-1 player, which is very similiar. I am going to have it fully modded next year.
If you modded your sony, you would not be able to find anything that could touch it, without spending many many times the amount of $ to mod it.
There is no risk in mods, if you have one of the reputable modders do the work. You have any problems, they will fix it. I don't know why "racerguy" would make such statements, unless he went to a "shady" modder, or had someone who did not know what they are doing do the work.
You would be amazed at what modders do for the dollar!!And, most new players can't come close to the quality of your sony.
