I sometimes have problems with my Sony 333ES. When I press Play, the Play arrow lights but the timer does not show the seconds ticking over. I usually open the tray (sometimes this hangs for a bit before it opens) and try a couple of times, and eventually the timer starts and the music comes out.I also have an XA777ES and this can exhibit similar anomalies, though not to the same extent. I think these problems are indicative that the alignment has gone off.
