intrigued that you found the sixteen bit good on the krell and thought the unmodded 963sa was also acceptable to your ears, in comparison, since i was suprised by the philips redbook presentation but by no means satisfied! still had urge to shut the thing off when playing audiophile or regular cds, even with upsampling. luckily i was very impressed with its video performance and that fact that it sports hi rez sacd. now that i swapped out the inferior oem ps cap with the blackgate VK150/350v, i am much relieved, satisfied, and pleased with it, even if i do nothing more to modify. admittedly i did not wait 100 hours of break-in for the stock parts to mellow out but i thought if it sounded better by then it would have to be a miracle ...
