I just got back from the AES Convention and had a chance to hear the SACD demo and meet Sony SACD crew of Demery, Colin, and David. Opened the demo with the Stones in stereo, then played a bunch of unreleased multichannel SACDs: A DMP gospel choir recording, a Natalie Cole/Dianna Krall duet, James Taylor October Road, and Aerosmith Walk this Way. All of it sounded great and I'm looking forward to all these releases. The Aerosmith track is not from the hits disc. They are in the middle of remastering Toys in the Attic in MC and played this track directly from the Sonoma workstation. The DMP gospel track and Aerosmith were definitely the highlights. They used an XA777 for stereo playback and a Philips SACD-1000/EMM DAC for multichannel fed into a EMM Switchman, five Big-ass ATC powered monitors and four subs. Very impressive.
