though a lot of it is freaky free jazz and weird hybrid rock/experimental/jazz combo sort of stuff. I guess I was being a bit harsh, and have to admit that my knowledge of current stuff is limited more to "freaky" free stuff (not a new thing by any means, I know) or some stuff that I think has jazz roots but is appreciated more by a rock audience (bands like Tortoise, the instrumental band I play in called Hippopotmus.) I'm sure there are bands out there that are more "traditional" (in, say, a Coltrane or Miles Davis or Sonny Rollins kind of way) that I don't know about.
