Newbie? good sounding budget/mid (up to $250) open back/over ears cans.

I've been reading that generally speaking open back designs have a rather large sonic advantage over closed back, the downside being less isolation.

If that's the case there must be some stellar performers in the budget/mid categories if the main criteria is sound quality. Suggestions welcome.

Just a note, while never a big headphone user I did in the past have Grado SR-60, open back if I'm not mistaken, however I have to say they never really stood out as sonically superior to other stuff I've had, buds etc., most of which I don't even recall make/model; I recall getting what were then considered good bang for buck buds from HiFiMAN as an example.
