has been my understanding the the two names discribe the same thing. The difference in use over time has been that horns were first and formost about obtaining as much gain as possible where as wave guids are focused upon dispersion and or controlled load. Horns came about in the days of three watt amps and they were needed to achieve life like dynamics. Today watts are not so hard to come by and control over directivity is more the focal point. just my 2 cents worth.
