I not sure there is a strict definition of the differences between the two. Both are acoustic transformers and generally define a directivity pattern.
I would refer you to Geddes to decode the complex world of horn/waveguide behavior. Most types have pros and cons depending on the application.
For domestic use, sound quality and pattern uniformity are clearly the dominant issues, as opposed to efficiency and others issues required in live sound applications.
For my purposes, I use the term waveguide to suggest devices with a mild flare rate and relatively shallow depth. Low coloration and a dispersion pattern of 90 degrees or under help to minimize room masking. The large mouth diameter of the CS2s waveguide relates to achieving directivity control over the operating bandwidth down to 1kHz.
