I can't vouch for these instructions (I have not tried them), but if you scroll down about half way in the page linked below, you'll see pretty elaborate instructions for doing what appears to be exactly what otter101 wants. You will want to go through them looking at a PAT-4 schematic to make sure they'll do what you want.

This page includes other mods to the PAT-4 that improve its power supply, supposedly lower its line stage distortion, etc. Worth a read, at least.
