RE: Is Blu Ray stepping up with music only discs?

There's "Pure Audio" for audio-only Blu-rays. If I understand correctly, it's mostly just a menu technique that makes it easier to play music with a Blu-ray player without a display connected. It's fully compatible with the the current Blu-ray spec.

One drawback of Blu-ray is that sample rates can only be multiples of 48k, so 16/44 stuff has to be resampled. You might as well use "Audio DVD"; essentially a video DVD with the video replaced by a single frame or slideshow; it should be compatible with all DVD players, and allows up to 24/96 PCM audio. The link lists some ways to make Audio DVDs or DVD-Audio. I'm pretty sure you can build Blu-ray audio disks using MultiAVCHD, but it'll take some patience to figure out how.

Cirlinca's HD-Audio Solo Ultra looks like a good product: you can make DVD-Audio, Audio DVDs, or Audio Blu-rays.
