If it is labelled as 24/48 MLP, then that is what it will be.
All MLP is lossless.
If it is labelled as MLP, and is not, then take it back or complain about false advertising.

Bitrate is no indication of resolution though, as MLP does it's thing in a number of ways. I have created 24/48 6 channel MLP streams that have a bitrate of only 2.5Mb/sec.
