Hi, trying to figure something out - maybe someone can help.

I've got thousands of records, and want to burn some at high sample rates.

I can go all the way up to 32/192. However, my amp can only handle 24/192 - at best, and sometimes downconverts to 9600.

I really have 2 questions. The first is whether you think there is a difference between 24/9600 and 24/19200 (besides file size, of course). The reason is that I can burn 24/19200 to DVD-Audio, but can only play it on my one DVD-Audio player. If I record in 24/9600 (or downsample to that) then I can burn to audio DVD - which can be played in any dvd player.

Also another question about surround sound. I can do a surround sound mix in 24/9600, but not in 24/19200. Here's the thing though, those surround sound mixes just use mono files from my orininal recording - so it doesn't seem to me that I am gettinng anything better than using my receivers "5 channel stereo" setting... and I can get that on 24/19200 - so there doesn't really seem to be any point to creating a 5.1 DVD-Audio from my vinly - except perhaps the very limited benefit of adding some effects to the rear channels (such as reverb) to alter the stereo field.

Does this seem correct to you, or am I missing something here????

thanks,

Lawrence
