Why DVD-A?

I don't understand why DVA-A is not just implemented by using 24 96. Wouldn't this simply mean that DVD-A would be compatible with all DVD players? One would only be giving up 192. I have a feeling I am missing something.

Am new to the forum so exsuse the ignorance.

You need DVD-Audio for 24/96 multi-channel sound. DVD-Video can only do 24/96 in 2 channel stereo. (nt) - Teresa 01:20:55 12/27/07 (33)
