Recently , Sony Music released , simultaneously , 4 versions of the brand new Bruce Springsteen album , Live In Dublin . None are SACD . The 4 versions are : 2 CD set , DVD with Hi-Rez PCM , DVD with Hi-Rez PCM packaged with the 2 CD set , and Blu-ray with Hi-Rez PCM .
All 4 versions have the same 23 song setlist .
The DVD with Hi-Rez PCM has 48/24 stereo , and Dolby Digital 5.1 surround .
The Blu-ray with Hi-Rez PCM has 48/24 stereo , and 48/24 5.1 surround .
I have listened to the Hi-Rez PCM versions , and the sound quality is very good .
The performance by Bruce and the Sessions Band is lively and energetic . The setlist features songs from Springsteen's Seeger Sessions album , but is sprinkled with older Springsteen songs such as , Atlantic City , and Highway Patrolman .
There's more than ambience in the rear channels of the 5.1 mix . Some instruments , predominantly horns , have been very effectively placed discretely in the rear channels . I like the 5.1 mix .
Bruce Springsteen is one of Sony Music's biggest stars . He is , also , one of Sony Music's most highly paid stars .
It's great to see Sony Music choose to release Hi-Rez PCM versions of Bruce's brand new album , Live In Dublin .
With regards to Sony Music's decision not to release an SACD version of Bruce Springsteen - Live In Dublin :
This is no surprise to me . With SACD doing so poorly , there's a much better chance of Sony Music releasing the new Bruce Springsteen album , and new albums by other Sony Rock stars , on the dead 8-Track tape format , than on SACD .
