The following information appears on page 28 of the December 2005 issue of Sound & Vision magazine : " Shipment figures released by the Recording Industry Association of America for the first half of 2005 ... 300,000 SACDs shipped , down 18% from the same time last year . ... Meanwhile , more than 7 Million DualDiscs were shipped " .Certainly , these numbers are no surprise to me . Throughout the development of DualDisc , I said that DualDisc was going to kill SACD , and that SACD was going to become DeadDisc .
In 2005 , there were no titles released on SACD , in the U.S. , which could generate good sales numbers . OTOH , there were some very good selling DualDiscs , led by Rob Thomas - Something To Be , released on April 19 , 2005 , which has sold more than 1 Million DualDiscs with DVD-Audio .
Back on June 9 , 2005 , I posted , in DVD-Audiobahn , Rob Thomas - Something To Be had sold over 1 Million DualDiscs with DVD-Audio . Now , we have more very nice numbers to look at : 7 Million for the new and successful DualDisc format , and only 300,000 for the old and failed SACD format .
