At the risk of restarting the conversation

racerguy was right - it's better to rely on a conservative figure (as used by the Meridian calculator) than a "typical" figure like 53%.

It is possible to check actual MLP compression ratios on commercial discs using a utility called DVDA Explorer. Based on the DVD-Audios I own, I would say 53% is NOT a typical figure and much lower compression ratios are very common, especially for non-classical, highly immersive surround mixes, or highly compressed music.

Anyway, if someone has a copy of this disc, it should be relatively easy to determine whether the contents will fit into a DVD-5 or not.
