Far from a genious, you're an idiot, and every time you open your mouth you prove it. Arrogant too.

In fact, you're a joke. You've just written lines about how terrible it is to arbitrarily pick what is the typical MLP compression amount because it happens to prove my point, but you think it's OK to pick the worst-case compression scenario because it proves yours. Actually I'm sorry, you're not a joke or an idiot, you're probably schizophrenic and should be pitied.

"You are missing something important, because the total size of the VIDEO_TS directory is 1,906,176,000 bytes (and 99.9% of it is data in the VOB files). By your post-it note calcs, it should only be 1,479,168,000 bytes. Why such a big difference, JamesB?"

Funny, you don't understand much about file sizes do you. You are aware that the size of a Gb is different on a disc than it is on a hard drive? Maths obviously isn't your strong point.

The Mb Gb transposition was a typo and well you know it, the difference in data rate is the mux overhead, since its already in the MPEG stream along with the other carriers.

"Add them all together using your wrong numbers, and yes, it's small enough to fit on a DualDisc. If we use the right numbers, it's not."

Your numbers are "right"? Please. You don't know whether there's a downmix coefficient (that was a guess) and we're both guessing about the amount of MLP compression. Your statements of fact are baseless.

"Again, JamesB, if you're right, then why did DTS go to the effort and expense to put the FZ release on a dual layer disc, if it would actually fit on a cheaper single layer disc? Well?"

Well, your royal dumbness, it's because DTS wanted to include menus, extras and all the other things they load their discs down with. None of those were included in the original list of audio streams or in this subsequent discussion. Add goodness knows how much video and of course it won't go on a DVD-5.
