I am also speaking from experience owning the 45A. Bass management on this player really does work with every format: CD, DVD-V, SACD, and DVD-A. I don't own every DVD-A in existance, but I did try a bunch (including Brain Salad Surgery) before I eventually got an ICBM and stopped using the player's BM.The bass management "issue" with the 45A is the same issue that plagued a number of other Pioneer models and the Denon 2900: the level of the sub channel is low. On the 45A, the problem is particularly bad. I don't remember exactly, but I think it was about 15dB low.
