I just spent a bunch of cash (for me atleast) for a 5.1 setup of Paradigm Atoms (4), the Paradigm center speaker that goes with them and the 100 w (I think its 100w or close to it) sub.I can't aford to go with tubes and seprate components yet, so I picked up a Harman/Kardon AVR 525 for $500 and want to get the best possible sound out of it. Atleast, until I can upgrade to a better amp.
What do you think would be best? A quality CD player, SACD or DVD-A? It sounds like SACD is being phased out so I'd rather not do that and CD doesn't offer "advanced resolution".
Is DVD-A going to be around for a little while and is the AVR525 good enough to notice the difference between CD and DVD-A?
Currently I'm using a Liteon DVD-R (lvw-5001) which is a nice cheap DVD recorder, but I think its weak at best for audio play back. I need to upgrade to something better either way. If that Dual sided disc or what ever it is, is out soon I can wait for it too.
I'm looking to spend not too much over $100.
Thanks for any help.
ps I upgraded from a crappy Aiwa reciever and JBL satalite speakers, so this was a BIG upgrade for a non-audiophile like myself and I just want to get the most out of it.
