It's a bit amazing that, with all the new microphone designs over the past several decades, that the Pope's audio engineer still hands him an AKG D-190E microphone.
But why not? It's light, small, sounds good, and has great immunity to wind and breath noise.
It's, ahem, a "testament" to the quality of that vintage design.
