At least something as simple as speed stability/accuracy. In a thread on the Steve Hoffman forums there are a bunch of measurements taken with a smart phone amp that uses the iphone's gyroscope. Quite frankly it is pretty appalling to see the results of one particular British manufacturer (glass platters, plinky plinths...) measuring as much as 2 rpm over or under.
Hifi News and Record Review does measure turntables and their results are quite beneficial.
