Discuss a review. Provide constructive feedback. Talk to the industry.

The problem is that the measurements don't always reflect

what our ears hear. A number of measurements (THD being an example) are not really based on how our ear/brain system works but instead of some rather simplified arbitrary concepts the industry used about 60 years ago.

Those concepts are a bit out of date!

So as a result you can have stuff that does not measure so well but sounds great, simply because the designer of the stereo equipment understands more of how the human ear works than the designer of the test equipment does. To further the problem, quite often the designer of the test equipment is completely convinced that everything is known about audio and has been for the last 30 years. What we have learned about how the human ear/brain hearing perceptual rules work in that time is quite a lot, but the test industry is still living in 1965, but with better computers.
