JA: Can I pick a nit here...

When referencing past issues of Stereophile either in a review or in the recommended components issue, could the writers use 'real' dates such as 'April 2015' instead of referring to Volume and Issue numbers i.e. Vol.38 No.4?

I know this is small potatoes but this practice in Stereophile and other magazines(TAS sometimes uses issue numbers) drives me crazy. Using volume and issues numbers means most readers(well me) have to do math in our heads to figure out exactly which issue is being referenced. The reader would also be able to instantly understand the age of the review. Now readers(well, me again) have to first check the spine to see what volume and issue are being read, then backwards calculate the year and month.

If there is a good reason for the current practice I would like to know. Thanks!
