But ( you knew ther would be a but). AD is not JA. JA has succeeded in essentially turning SP into an American version of Hi Fi News and Record Review- the magazine from which JA was hired. SP prides itself on well balanced reviews with a deep scientific understanding of the equipment and how audio is reproduced. In many ways SP is the establishment publication. Listener, AD's former publication was a funny and subversive underground magazine that represented Art's view of the audio world. His personality was part of the editorial fabric. To an extent, AD has continued to infuse his SP output with his personality- warts and all. Asking AD to take on the role of senior editor may also mean asking AD to become something he is not.
That said, I think AD is an excellent choice for assistant editor.
I wish him well.
