The NS-10, it claims, was introduced in 1978.
Very, very few pop recordings produced after ca. 1980 sound very good to me -- pop in the early 1980s got very thin, bright, congested, and compressed compared to 1960s/1970s pop recordings (talking averages, here... and anecdotally, but of course!).
Correlation is not causality -- but there is certainly temporal correlation.
Who knew!?
