High 2nd order distortion in an SET, especially those with low or no negative feedback is topologically inherent is SET amps. The single ended topology leads to asymmetrical reproduction of the negative half of the wave which is compressed compared to the positive half creating the high 2nd harmonic and add low or no negative feedback to that and you have no compensation for the 2nd harmonic.
