I am actually finding that the 1990s top 20 bit DACs sound more natural than nearly all of the wiz bang newest technology. I have a DAC now with the Ultra Analog chips, one of the most expensive DAC modules ever made, that with redbook walks all over any of the ESS based DACs I have heard. I haven't heard the Bricasti though...could be promising. I have heard the Metrum Hex recently and thought it superb with NOS old tech...
Still a good analog rig tops all digital I have heard...regardless of the price of the digital system or its technology.
