RE: December Stereophile - Allnic D-5000 DHT

I bought an Abbingdon Music Research DP777 DAC that Art loved and that John Atkinson did not love measurement-wise. So I am biased. My take is that with DAC's in particular, there can be a wide divergence as to how the component measures and how it sounds. But here is what bothers me; whey is that every time a DAC measures well, the reviewer loves it? I find that to be unrealistic. When if ever has a reviewer in S'Phile said, "I was not particularly drawn in by the sound of this DAC" and yet the measurements were beyond reproach? Just doesn't happen. In fact, it is exceedingly rare that any electronic component (thus excluding loudspeakers) gets a "meh" review. How can that be? There are tons of "meh" sounding electronics out there.
