RE: no mention of HP's death in Stereophile?

...he lived on Long Island in Sea Cliff, NY and mentioned going into Manhattan to Lyric HiFi frequently which was the top retailer of high end equipment in the area.

He had a big following in the NY area so it's no surprise the NY Times would recognize him.

As to the obit, it mentioned his objections to early digital sound made him more famous.
